On the blue shores of Lake Vättern in the heart of Jönköping, you’ll find Rosenlund Rosarium – one of Småland’s most cherished gardens, surrounded by historic charm and natural splendor. Here, you can wander among over 550 varieties of roses, as the scent of blooming flowers fills the air and sunlight dances across exotic trees and perennial beds. The rosarium offers a peaceful experience where every shift in color is a feast for the senses.
Rosenlund Rosarium has gained international recognition and was awarded the "Award of Garden Excellence" in 2022, making it one of the world’s most visited rose gardens. Here, old-fashioned roses, modern varieties, and rare species are combined, creating a unique place for garden lovers and visitors.
When do the roses bloom at Rosenlund Rosarium? The blooming begins early in the summer. In May, the first bush roses display their beauty, while the peak of flowering occurs in July, when climbing roses and old-fashioned varieties shine in all their glory. Throughout August, the bed roses and repeat-flowering roses continue to create magic, making the rosarium a perfect destination for late summer visitors
History of Rosenlund Rosarium and heritage roses
Rosenlund Rosarium has a rich history, with roses being a part of the landscape since the 1800s. The garden was officially established in 1977 and has since undergone several renovations to preserve its beauty. It also includes an important clone archive, which is part of a national project to conserve heritage roses from Småland and Västergötland. Well worth a visit!
